SANTIAGO, Oct. 8, 2015 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (South American Qualifiers) : Chile defeated Brazil by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup (Qualifying Tournament) on Thursday night at the Estadio Nacional de Chile in Santiago.
Both teams held off against each other during the first 45 minutes of the game. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with goals by Vargas ('72) and Sánchez ('88).
The result put the Chilians top of the group with 3 points. In their next game, Chile will meet Peru at the Estadio Nacional de Chile on October 13, while Brazil will face Venezuela.
