World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Colombia beats Peru 2-0
BARRANQUILLA, Oct. 8, 2015 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (South American Qualifiers) : Colombia defeated Peru by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup (Qualifying Tournament) on Thursday afternoon at the Estadio Metropolitano Roberto Meléndez in Barranquilla.
Colombia dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by forward Teófilo Gutiérrez in the 36th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Colombians further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Cardona in stoppage time.
The result put the Colombians top of the group with 3 points. In their next game, Colombia will meet group leaders Uruguay at the Estadio Metropolitano Roberto Meléndez on October 13, while Peru will face Chile.
