World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Ecuador beats Venezuela 3-1
CIUDAD GUAYANA, Nov. 17, 2015 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (South American Qualifiers) : Ecuador defeated Venezuela by a score of 3-1 (halftime: 2-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup (Qualifying Tournament) on Tuesday afternoon at the Polideportivo Cachamay in Ciudad Guayana.
Ecuador dominated the first half thanks to goals from Martínez ('15) and Montero ('23). Leading 2-0 at the break, the Ecuadorians further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Caicedo in the 60th minute.
The result put the Ecuadorians top of the group with 12 points. Venezuela is bottom with no points. In their next game, Ecuador will meet Paraguay at the Polideportivo Cachamay on March 24, while Venezuela will face Peru.
