World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Peru and Venezuela tied at 2-2
LIMA, Mar. 24, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (South American Qualifiers) : Peru tied 2-2 with Venezuela (halftime: 0-1), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup (Qualifying Tournament) on Thursday night at the National Stadium in Lima.
The Venezuelans started off well by taking the lead thanks to Otero on penalty in the 33rd minute. However, even though they were leading 1-0 at half time, and despite Villanueva goal ('57) in the second period, they could not prevent a comeback by Peru with goals by Guerrero ('61) and Ruidíaz ('90).
The result put the Peruvians 8th in the group with 4 points. Venezuela is bottom with one point. In their next game, Peru will meet second-placed Uruguay at the National Stadium on March 29, while Venezuela will face Chile.
