World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Brazil draw 2-2 with Uruguay
RECIFE, Mar. 25, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (South American Qualifiers) : Brazil tied 2-2 with Uruguay (halftime: 2-1), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup (Qualifying Tournament) on Friday night at the Arena Pernambuco in Recife.
The Brazilians started off well by taking the lead thanks to goals by Douglas Costa ('1) and Renato Augusto ('25) while the Uruguayans only scored once Cavani ('30). However, even though they were leading 2-1 at half time, they could not prevent a comeback by Uruguay with a saving goal from Uruguayan forward Luis Suárez in the 48th minute.
The result put the Uruguayans second in the group with 10 points. Brazil is third with 8 points. In their next game, Uruguay will meet Peru at the Arena Pernambuco on March 29, while Brazil will face Paraguay.
