World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Colombia defeats Ecuador 3-1
BARRANQUILLA, Mar. 29, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (South American Qualifiers) : Colombia defeated Ecuador by a score of 3-1 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup (Qualifying Tournament) on Tuesday afternoon at the Estadio Metropolitano Roberto Meléndez in Barranquilla.
Carlos Bacca scored dual goals
Colombia dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by forward Carlos Bacca in the 15th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Colombians further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Pérez '48 and Bacca '67).
The result put the Ecuadorians top of the group with 13 points. Colombia is third with 10 points. In their next game, Ecuador will meet Brazil at the Estadio Metropolitano Roberto Meléndez on September 1, while Colombia will face Venezuela.
