World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Uruguay beats Peru 1-0
MONTEVIDEO, Mar. 29, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (South American Qualifiers) : Uruguay defeated Peru by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup (Qualifying Tournament) on Tuesday night at the Estadio Centenario in Montevideo.
Both teams held off against each other during the first 45 minutes of the game. 0-0 at half time. Everything was decided in the second period with a saving goal by Uruguayan forward Edinson Cavani in the 51st minute.
The result put the Uruguayans top of the group with 13 points. Peru is 8th with 4 points. In their next game, Uruguay will meet Argentina at the Estadio Centenario on September 1, while Peru will face Bolivia.
