World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Chile defeats Venezuela 4-1
BARINAS, Mar. 29, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (South American Qualifiers) : Chile defeated Venezuela by a score of 4-1 (halftime: 1-1), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup (Qualifying Tournament) on Tuesday night at the Estadio Agustin Tovar in Barinas.
Mauricio Pinilla and Arturo Vidal scored dual goals
Otero opened the score in the 9th minute, before seeing Chile catch up in the 33rd minute thanks to Mauricio Pinilla. 1-1 at half time. The Chilians eventually won the game in the second period with three more goals by Pinilla ('52) and Vidal ('72, '90).
The result put the Chilians third in the group with 10 points. Venezuela is bottom with one point. In their next game, Chile will meet Paraguay at the Estadio Agustin Tovar on September 1, while Venezuela will face Colombia.
