LA PAZ, Sep. 1, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (South American Qualifiers) : Bolivia defeated Peru by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup (Qualifying Tournament) on Thursday afternoon at the Hernando Siles Stadium in La Paz.
Bolivia dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by Escobar in the 38th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Bolivians further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Raldes with just 4 minutes remaining in regulation time.
The result put the Bolivians 8th in the group with 6 points. Peru is 9th with 4 points. In their next game, Bolivia will meet Chile at the Hernando Siles Stadium on September 6, while Peru will face Ecuador.
