ASUNCIóN, Sep. 1, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (South American Qualifiers) : Paraguay defeated Chile by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 2-1), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup (Qualifying Tournament) on Thursday night at the Defensores del Chaco Stadium in Asunción.
All the action happened in the first half, with goals from O. Romero ('6) and Paulo da Silva ('9).
The result put the Paraguayans 5th in the group with 12 points. Chile is 7th with 10 points. In their next game, Paraguay will meet group leaders Uruguay at the Defensores del Chaco Stadium on September 6, while Chile will face Bolivia.
