World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Peru beats Ecuador 2-1
LIMA, Sep. 6, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (South American Qualifiers) : Peru defeated Ecuador by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-1), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup (Qualifying Tournament) on Tuesday night at the National Stadium in Lima.
Cueva opened the score in the 19th minute on penalty, before seeing Ecuador catch up in the 30th minute thanks to Gabriel Achilier. 1-1 at half time. The Peruvians eventually won the game in the second period with with a goal by Tapia in the 78th minute.
The result put the Ecuadorians 5th in the group with 13 points. Peru is 9th with 7 points. In their next game, Ecuador will meet Chile at the National Stadium on October 6, while Peru will face Argentina.
