World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Uruguay beats Paraguay 4-0
MONTEVIDEO, Sep. 6, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (South American Qualifiers) : Uruguay defeated Paraguay by a big score of 4-0 (halftime: 3-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup (Qualifying Tournament) on Tuesday night at the Estadio Centenario in Montevideo.
Edinson Cavani scored dual goals
Uruguay dominated the first half thanks to goals from Cavani ('17), Rodríguez ('41) and Suárez ('45 on penalty). Leading 3-0 at the break, the Uruguayans further widened their lead in the second period with another goal by Cavani in the 53rd minute.
The result put the Uruguayans top of the group with 16 points. Paraguay is 6th with 12 points. In their next game, Uruguay will meet Venezuela at the Estadio Centenario on October 6, while Paraguay will face Colombia.
