World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Ecuador beats Chile 3-0
QUITO, Oct. 6, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (South American Qualifiers) : Ecuador defeated Chile by a score of 3-0 (halftime: 2-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup (Qualifying Tournament) on Thursday afternoon at the Atahualpa Olympic Stadium in Quito.
Ecuador dominated the first half thanks to goals from Valencia ('19) and Ramírez ('23). Leading 2-0 at the break, the Ecuadorians further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Caicedo in the 46th minute.
The result put the Ecuadorians second in the group with 16 points. Chile is 7th with 11 points. In their next game, Ecuador will meet Bolivia at the Atahualpa Olympic Stadium on October 11, while Chile will face Peru.
