World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Peru and Argentina play out 2-2 draw
LIMA, Oct. 6, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (South American Qualifiers) : Peru tied 2-2 with Argentina (halftime: 0-1), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup (Qualifying Tournament) on Thursday night at the National Stadium in Lima.
The Argentines started off well by taking the lead thanks to Funes Mori in the 15th minute. However, even though they were leading 1-0 at half time, and despite Higuaín goal ('77) in the second period, they could not prevent a comeback by Peru with goals by Guerrero ('58) and Cueva ('84 on penalty).
The result put the Argentine fourth in the group with 16 points. Peru is 8th with 8 points. In their next game, Argentina will meet Paraguay at the National Stadium on October 11, while Peru will face Chile.
