World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Chile defeats Peru 2-1
SANTIAGO, Oct. 11, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (South American Qualifiers) : Chile defeated Peru by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup (Qualifying Tournament) on Tuesday night at the Estadio Nacional de Chile in Santiago.
Arturo Vidal scored dual goals
Chile dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by midfielder Arturo Vidal in the 10th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Chilians further widened their lead in the second period with another goal by Vidal with just 5 minutes remaining in regulation time.
The result put the Chilians 7th in the group with 14 points. Peru is 8th with 8 points. In their next game, Chile will meet Colombia at the Estadio Nacional de Chile on November 10, while Peru will face Paraguay.
