World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Brazil beats Venezuela 2-0
MéRIDA, Oct. 11, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (South American Qualifiers) : Brazil defeated Venezuela by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup (Qualifying Tournament) on Tuesday night at the Estadio Metropolitano de Mérida.
Brazil dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by Gabriel Jesus in the 8th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Brazilians further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Willian in the 53rd minute.
The result put the Brazilians top of the group with 21 points. Venezuela is bottom with 2 points. In their next game, Brazil will meet Argentina at the Estadio Metropolitano de Mérida on November 10, while Venezuela will face Bolivia.
