World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Peru beats Paraguay 4-1
ASUNCIóN, Nov. 10, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (South American Qualifiers) : Peru defeated Paraguay by a score of 4-1 (halftime: 0-1), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup (Qualifying Tournament) on Thursday night at the Defensores del Chaco Stadium in Asunción.
Paraguay had started off well by taking the lead in the 9th minute with a goal by midfielder Cristian Riveros. Trailing 1-0 at half time, the Peruvians nonetheless manage to reverse the direction of the game by scoring four times in the second period (Ramos '48, Flores '71, Cueva '78 and Benítez '84 own).
The result put the Paraguayans 7th in the group with 15 points. Peru is 8th with 11 points. In their next game, Paraguay will meet Bolivia at the Defensores del Chaco Stadium on November 15, while Peru will face Brazil.
