QUITO, Nov. 15, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (South American Qualifiers) : Ecuador defeated Venezuela by a score of 3-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup (Qualifying Tournament) on Tuesday afternoon at the Atahualpa Olympic Stadium in Quito.
Venezuela made the Ecuadorians doubt themselves for forty-five minutes. 0-0 at half time. Everything was decided in the second period with goals by Mina ('51), M. Bolaños ('82) and Valencia ('86).
The result put the Ecuadorians third in the group with 20 points. Venezuela is bottom with 5 points. In their next game, Ecuador will meet Paraguay at the Atahualpa Olympic Stadium on March 23, while Venezuela will face Peru.
