World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Venezuela and Peru play out 2-2 draw
MATURIN, Mar. 23, 2017 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (South American Qualifiers) : Venezuela tied 2-2 with Peru (halftime: 2-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup (Qualifying Tournament) on Thursday night at the Estadio Monumental de Maturín.
The Venezuelans started off well by taking the lead thanks to goals by Villanueva ('23) and Otero ('39). However, even though they were leading 2-0 at half time, they could not prevent a comeback by Peru with goals by Carrillo ('46) and Guerrero ('64).
The result put the Peruvians 8th in the group with 12 points. Venezuela is bottom with 6 points. In their next game, Peru will meet second-placed Uruguay at the Estadio Monumental de Maturín on March 28, while Venezuela will face Chile.
