SANTIAGO, Mar. 28, 2017 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (South American Qualifiers) : Chile defeated Venezuela by a score of 3-1 (halftime: 3-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup (Qualifying Tournament) on Tuesday night at the Estadio Monumental David Arellano in Santiago.
Esteban Paredes scored dual goals
Chile dominated the first half thanks to goals from Sánchez ('4) and Paredes ('6, '22). Leading 3-0 at the break, the Chilians further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by in the th minute.
The result put the Chilians 5th in the group with 21 points. Venezuela is bottom with 6 points. In their next game, Chile will meet Paraguay at the Estadio Monumental David Arellano on August 31, while Venezuela will face Colombia.
