World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Brazil beats Ecuador 2-0
PORTO ALEGRE, Aug. 31, 2017 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (South American Qualifiers) : Brazil defeated Ecuador by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup (Qualifying Tournament) on Thursday night at the Arena do Grêmio in Porto Alegre.
Both teams held off against each other during the first 45 minutes of the game. 0-0 at half time. Everything was decided in the second period with goals by Paulinho ('69) and Coutinho ('76).
The result put the Brazilians top of the group with 36 points. Ecuador is 7th with 20 points. In their next game, Brazil will meet second-placed Colombia at the Arena do Grêmio on September 5, while Ecuador will face Peru.
