QUITO, Sep. 5, 2017 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (South American Qualifiers) : Peru defeated Ecuador by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup (Qualifying Tournament) on Tuesday afternoon at the Atahualpa Olympic Stadium in Quito.
Ecuador made the Peruvians doubt themselves for forty-five minutes. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with goals by Flores ('73) and Hurtado ('76).
The result put the Peruvians 6th in the group with 21 points. Ecuador is 8th with 20 points. In their next game, Peru will meet Argentina at the Atahualpa Olympic Stadium on October 5, while Ecuador will face Chile.
