ASUNCIóN, Sep. 5, 2017 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (South American Qualifiers) : Uruguay defeated Paraguay by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup (Qualifying Tournament) on Tuesday night at the Defensores del Chaco Stadium in Asunción.
45 minutes of play and neither the Uruguayans nor the Paraguayans have managed to pull ahead. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with goals by Valverde ('76) and Gómez ('80 own).
The result put the Uruguayans second in the group with 27 points. Paraguay is 7th with 21 points. In their next game, Uruguay will meet Venezuela at the Defensores del Chaco Stadium on October 5, while Paraguay will face Colombia.
