ROTTERDAM, Oct. 7, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (European Qualifiers) : The Netherlands defeated Belarus by a score of 4-1 (halftime: 2-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Friday night at the De Kuip in Rotterdam.
Promes scored dual goals
The Netherlands dominated the first half thanks to goals from Promes ('15, '31). Leading 2-0 at the break, the Dutchs further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Klaassen '56 and Janssen '64).
The result put the Dutch top of Group A with 4 points. Belarus is 5th with one point. In their next game, the Netherlands will meet second-placed France at the De Kuip on October 10, while Belarus will face Luxembourg.
