World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Netherlands beats Luxembourg 3-1
LUXEMBOURG, Nov. 13, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (European Qualifiers) : The Netherlands defeated Luxembourg by a score of 3-1 (halftime: 1-1), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Sunday night at the Stade Josy Barthel in Luxembourg.
Memphis Depay scored dual goals
Dutch forward Arjen Robben opened the score in the 36th minute, before seeing Luxembourg catch up in the 44th minute thanks to Chanot penalty kick. 1-1 at half time. The Dutchs eventually won the game in the second period with two more goals by Depay ('58, '84).
The result put the Dutch second in Group A with 7 points. Luxembourg is bottom with one point. In their next game, the Netherlands will meet Bulgaria at the Stade Josy Barthel on March 25, while Luxembourg will face France.
