World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Belarus defeats Bulgaria 2-1
BORISOV, Jun. 9, 2017 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (European Qualifiers) : Belarus defeated Bulgaria by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Friday night at the Borisov Arena.
Belarus dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by Sivakow in the 33rd minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Belarusians further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Savitski with just 10 minutes remaining in regulation time.
The result put the Bulgarians fourth in Group A with 9 points. Belarus is 5th with 5 points. In their next game, Bulgaria will meet group leaders Sweden at the Borisov Arena on August 31, while Belarus will face Luxembourg.
