World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Sweden beats France 2-1
SOLNA, Jun. 9, 2017 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (European Qualifiers) : Sweden defeated France by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-1), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Friday night at the Friends Arena in Solna.
French forward Olivier Giroud opened the score in the 37th minute, before seeing Sweden catch up in the 43rd minute thanks to Durmaz. 1-1 at half time. The Swedishs eventually won the game in the second period with with a goal by Toivonen in stoppage time.
The result put the Swedish top of Group A with 13 points. France is second with 13 points. In their next game, Sweden will meet Bulgaria at the Friends Arena on August 31, while France will face the Netherlands.
