BASEL, Sep. 6, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (European Qualifiers) : Switzerland defeated Portugal by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 2-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday night at St. Jakob-Park in Basel.
All the action happened in the first half, with goals from Embolo ('24) and Admir Mehmedi ('30).
The result put the Swiss top of Group B with 3 points. In their next game, Switzerland will meet third-placed Hungary at St. Jakob-Park on October 7, while Portugal will face Andorra.
