World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Switzerland defeats Andorra 2-1
ANDORRA LA VELLA, Oct. 10, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (European Qualifiers) : Switzerland defeated Andorra by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Monday night at the Estadi Nacional d'Andorra.
Switzerland dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by defender Fabian Schär in the 19th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Swisss further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Mehmedi in the 77th minute.
The result put the Swiss top of Group B with 9 points. Andorra is bottom with no points. In their next game, Switzerland will meet the Faroe islands at the Estadi Nacional d'Andorra on November 13, while Andorra will face Hungary.
