RIGA, Oct. 10, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (European Qualifiers) : Hungary defeated Latvia by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Monday night at the Skonto Stadium in Riga.
Hungary dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by Gyurcsó in the 10th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Hungarians further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Szalai in the 77th minute.
The result put the Hungarians third in Group B with 4 points. Latvia is 5th with 3 points. In their next game, Hungary will meet Andorra at the Skonto Stadium on November 13, while Latvia will face Portugal.
