World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Hungary defeats Latvia 3-1
BUDAPEST, Aug. 31, 2017 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (European Qualifiers) : Hungary defeated Latvia by a score of 3-1 (halftime: 2-1), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Thursday night at the Groupama Arena in Budapest.
Hungary dominated the first half thanks to goals from Kádár ('6) and Szalai ('26). Leading 2-1 at the break, the Hungarians further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Dzsudzsák in the 68th minute.
The result put the Hungarians third in Group B with 10 points. Latvia is bottom with 3 points. In their next game, Hungary will meet second-placed Portugal at the Groupama Arena on September 3, while Latvia will face Switzerland.
