World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Switzerland beats Hungary 5-2
BASEL, Oct. 7, 2017 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (European Qualifiers) : Switzerland defeated Hungary by a score of 5-2 (halftime: 3-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Saturday night at St. Jakob-Park in Basel.
Steven Zuber scored dual goals
Switzerland dominated the first half thanks to goals from Xhaka ('18), Frei ('20) and Zuber ('43). Leading 3-0 at the break, the Swisss further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Zuber '49 and Lichtsteiner '83).
The result put the Swiss top of Group B with 27 points. Hungary is third with 10 points. In their last game, Switzerland will meet second-placed Portugal at St. Jakob-Park on October 10, while Hungary will face the Faroe islands.
