World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Portugal qualify for World Cup, Switzerland face play-off
LISBON, Oct. 10, 2017 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (European Qualifiers) : Portugal defeated Switzerland by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a World Cup qualifying game on Tuesday night at the Estádio da Luz in Lisbon.
Portugal dominated the first half as a result of the unfortunate own goal scored by defender Johan Djourou in the 41st minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Portugueses further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by A. Silva in the 57th minute.
Portugal secured their ticket to the finals but Switzerland will have to go through the playoffs.Fixtures and Results : Group B
