World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Northern Ireland beats San Marino 4-0
BELFAST, Oct. 8, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (European Qualifiers) : Northern Ireland defeated San Marino by a big score of 4-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Saturday night at Windsor Park in Belfast.
Kyle Lafferty scored dual goals
Northern Ireland dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by English midfielder Steven Davis in the 26th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Irishs further widened their lead in the second period by scoring three times (Lafferty '79, '90 and Ward '85).
The result put the Irish third in Group C with 4 points. San Marino is bottom with no points. In their next game, Northern Ireland will meet group leaders Germany at Windsor Park on October 11, while San Marino will face Norway.
