World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Northern Ireland beats Azerbaijan 4-0
BELFAST, Nov. 11, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (European Qualifiers) : Northern Ireland defeated Azerbaijan by a big score of 4-0 (halftime: 2-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Friday night at Windsor Park in Belfast.
Northern Ireland dominated the first half thanks to goals from Lafferty ('27) and McAuley ('40). Leading 2-0 at the break, the Irishs further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (McLaughlin '66 and Brunt '83).
The result put the Irish second in Group C with 7 points. Azerbaijan is third with 7 points. In their next game, Northern Ireland will meet Norway at Windsor Park on March 26, while Azerbaijan will face Germany.
