BAKU, Jun. 10, 2017 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (European Qualifiers) : Northern Ireland defeated Azerbaijan by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Saturday night at the Tofiq Bahramov Republican Stadium in Baku.
45 minutes of play and neither the Irishs nor the Azerbaijanis have managed to pull ahead. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with a saving goal by Irish midfielder Stuart Dallas in stoppage time.
The result put the Irish second in Group C with 13 points. Azerbaijan is fourth with 7 points. In their next game, Northern Ireland will meet San Marino at the Tofiq Bahramov Republican Stadium on September 1, while Azerbaijan will face Norway.
