World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Germany defeats Czech republic 2-1
PRAGUE, Sep. 1, 2017 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (European Qualifiers) : Germany defeated Czech republic by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Friday night at the Eden Arena in Prague.
Germany dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by forward Timo Werner in the 4th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Germans further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Hummels with just 2 minutes remaining in regulation time.
The result put the Germans top of Group C with 21 points. Czech republic is third with 9 points. In their next game, Germany will meet Norway at the Eden Arena on September 4, while Czech republic will face Northern Ireland.
