World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Czech republic defeats Azerbaijan 2-1
BAKU, Oct. 5, 2017 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (European Qualifiers) : Czech republic defeated Azerbaijan by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Thursday night at the Baku Olympic Stadium.
Czech republic dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by Kopic in the 35th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Czechs further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Barák in the 66th minute.
The result put the Czech third in Group C with 12 points. Azerbaijan is fourth with 10 points. In their last game, Czech republic will meet San Marino at the Baku Olympic Stadium on October 8, while Azerbaijan will face Germany.
