TBILISI, Sep. 5, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (European Qualifiers) : Austria defeated Georgia by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 2-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Monday night at the Boris Paichadze Dinamo Arena in Tbilisi.
Austria dominated the first half thanks to goals from Hinteregger ('16) and Janko ('42). Leading 2-0 at the break, the Austrians further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by in the th minute.
The result put the Austrians top of Group D with 3 points. In their next game, Austria will meet Wales at the Boris Paichadze Dinamo Arena on October 6, while Georgia will face Ireland.
