World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Ireland beats Moldova 3-1
CHISINAU, Oct. 9, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (European Qualifiers) : Ireland defeated Moldova by a score of 3-1 (halftime: 1-1), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Sunday night at the Zimbru Stadium in Chisinau.
James McClean scored dual goals
Irish forward Shane Long opened the score in the 2nd minute, before seeing Moldova catch up in the 45th minute thanks to Bugaiov. 1-1 at half time. The Irishs eventually won the game in the second period with two more goals by McClean ('69, '76).
The result put the Irish second in Group D with 7 points. Moldova is bottom with no points. In their next game, Ireland will meet Austria at the Zimbru Stadium on November 12, while Moldova will face Georgia.
