BELGRADE, Oct. 9, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (European Qualifiers) : Serbia defeated Austria by a score of 3-2 (halftime: 2-1), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Sunday night at the Red Star Stadium in Belgrade.
A. Mitrović scored dual goals
Serbia dominated the first half thanks to goals from A. Mitrović ('6, '23). Leading 2-1 at the break, the Serbians further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Tadic in the 74th minute.
The result put the Serbians top of Group D with 7 points. Austria is fourth with 4 points. In their next game, Serbia will meet third-placed Wales at the Red Star Stadium on November 12, while Austria will face Ireland.
