VIENNA, Mar. 24, 2017 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (European Qualifiers) : Austria defeated Moldova by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Friday night at the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna.
Both teams held off against each other during the first 45 minutes of the game. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with goals by Arnautović ('75) and Harnik ('90).
The result put the Austrians fourth in Group D with 7 points. Moldova is bottom with one point. In their next game, Austria will meet second-placed Ireland at the Ernst Happel Stadium on June 11, while Moldova will face Georgia.
