World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Ireland and Austria play to a 1-1 draw
DUBLIN, Jun. 11, 2017 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (European Qualifiers) : Ireland tied 1-1 with Austria (halftime: 0-1), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Sunday night at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.
The Austrians started off well by taking the lead thanks to Hinteregger in the 31st minute. However, even though they were leading 1-0 at half time, they could not prevent a comeback by Ireland with a saving goal from Walters in the 85th minute.
The result put the Irish top of Group D with 12 points. Austria is third with 8 points. In their next game, Ireland will meet Georgia at the Aviva Stadium on September 2, while Austria will face Wales.
