World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Moldova and Georgia tied at 2-2
CHISINAU, Jun. 11, 2017 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (European Qualifiers) : Moldova tied 2-2 with Georgia (halftime: 2-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Sunday night at the Zimbru Stadium in Chisinau.
The Moldovans started off well by taking the lead thanks to goals by Gînsari ('15) and Dedov ('36). However, even though they were leading 2-0 at half time, they could not prevent a comeback by Georgia with goals by Merebashvili ('66) and Qazaishvili ('70).
The result put the Georgians 5th in Group D with 3 points. Moldova is bottom with 2 points. In their next game, Georgia will meet group leaders Ireland at the Zimbru Stadium on September 2, while Moldova will face Serbia.
