World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Poland beats Montenegro 2-1
PODGORICA, Mar. 26, 2017 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (European Qualifiers) : Poland defeated Montenegro by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Sunday night at the Podgorica City Stadium.
Poland dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by forward Robert Lewandowski in the 40th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Poles further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Piszczek with just 8 minutes remaining in regulation time.
The result put the Pole top of Group E with 13 points. Montenegro is second with 7 points. In their next game, Poland will meet Romania at the Podgorica City Stadium on June 10, while Montenegro will face Armenia.
