World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Scotland beats Malta 5-1
TA' QALI, Sep. 4, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (European Qualifiers) : Scotland defeated Malta by a big score of 5-1 (halftime: 1-1), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Sunday night at the Ta' Qali National Stadium.
Robert Snodgrass scored tripple goals
Scottish midfielder Robert Snodgrass opened the score in the 10th minute, before seeing Malta catch up in the 14th minute thanks to Effiong. 1-1 at half time. The Scots eventually won the game in the second period with four more goals by C. Martin ('53), Snodgrass ('61 on penalty, '84) and S. Fletcher ('78).
The result put the Scot top of Group F with 3 points. In their next game, Scotland will meet third-placed Lithuania at the Ta' Qali National Stadium on October 8, while Malta will face England.
