VILNIUS, Oct. 11, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (European Qualifiers) : Lithuania defeated Malta by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday night at the LFF Stadium in Vilnius.
45 minutes of play and neither the Lithuanians nor the Malteses have managed to pull ahead. 0-0 at half time. Everything was decided in the second period with goals by Černych ('76) and Novikovas ('84 on penalty).
The result put the Lithuanians second in Group F with 5 points. Malta is bottom with no points. In their next game, Lithuania will meet Slovakia at the LFF Stadium on November 11, while Malta will face Slovenia.
