TA' QALI, Nov. 11, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (European Qualifiers) : Slovenia defeated Malta by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Friday night at the Ta' Qali National Stadium.
Both teams held off against each other during the first 45 minutes of the game. 0-0 at half time. Everything was decided in the second period with a saving goal by Verbič in the 47th minute.
The result put the Slovenians second in Group F with 8 points. Malta is bottom with no points. In their next game, Slovenia will meet Scotland at the Ta' Qali National Stadium on March 26, while Malta will face Slovakia.
