World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Slovakia beats Malta 3-1
TA' QALI, Mar. 26, 2017 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (European Qualifiers) : Slovakia defeated Malta by a score of 3-1 (halftime: 2-1), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Sunday night at the Ta' Qali National Stadium.
Slovakia dominated the first half thanks to goals from Weiss ('2) and Greguš ('41). Leading 2-1 at the break, the Slovaks further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Nemec with just 6 minutes remaining in regulation time.
The result put the Slovak second in Group F with 9 points. Malta is bottom with no points. In their next game, Slovakia will meet Lithuania at the Ta' Qali National Stadium on June 10, while Malta will face Slovenia.
