World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Slovakia beats Lithuania 2-1
VILNIUS, Jun. 10, 2017 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (European Qualifiers) : Slovakia defeated Lithuania by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Saturday night at the LFF Stadium in Vilnius.
Slovakia dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by midfielder Vladimír Weiss in the 32nd minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Slovaks further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Hamsik in the 58th minute.
The result put the Slovak second in Group F with 12 points. Lithuania is 5th with 5 points. In their next game, Slovakia will meet third-placed Slovenia at the LFF Stadium on September 1, while Lithuania will face Scotland.
